You won't believe what I’ve been hearing the most from my professional groups!

I’ve been hearing a lot from my professional groups:

• I want to be heard

• I want new opportunities

• I want to make more decisions

• I want constructive feedback

• I want to feel comfortable at work

• My work climate has been off since the pandemic

This is a symptom of not rebuilding work cultures after re-entering the work world. Many of us worked in isolation for a long time and relied on our opinions and ideas. Organizations and teams must emphasize team building through discussions and activities while strategically planning. You can’t collaborate if you don’t know who’s in the room and how to communicate effectively!

Here are some collaboration tips:

1. Get to know your team: Coffee or lunch is a great way to understand the personalities that you are working with

2. Collective voice: My way or the highway days are over. Run your ideas by the team before deciding.

3. Have some downtime: Yes, goals are essential, but they need time to kick back and relax.

4. Co-create the culture: Ask your team what fun and invigorating things they would like to implement.
